Anna Shaw Children's Institute
Project type
Branding Design
Date
2019
Location
Dalton, GA
The branding for Anna Shaw Children's Institute in Dalton was created as an extension of the larger identity system for Hamilton Health Care System, now Vitruvian Health. Inspired by the Vitruvian Man — a symbol of balance, humanity, proportion, and holistic care — the mark reinterprets those ideals through the lens of childhood. Instead of a singular figure, two children holding hands form the foundation of the identity, representing connection, growth, support, and the shared journey of healing.
The design bridges the legacy of the parent healthcare system with the warmth and imagination necessary for pediatric care. Softened forms, approachable typography, and playful movement were intentionally developed to create a brand experience that feels safe, hopeful, and deeply human. The identity reflects the belief that children deserve healthcare environments that not only treat the body, but nurture confidence, belonging, and joy.
This project included the development of a cohesive visual system designed to extend across environmental graphics, print collateral, digital communications, and community outreach materials. Every element was crafted to honor the Institute’s mission while maintaining continuity with the broader Vitruvian Health brand — creating a system that feels both rooted in legacy and distinctly centered on children and families.
